Description
Carbo BAR 2:1 (crispy version) is an energy bar from the Yamamoto Sport range, designed for athletes undertaking intense training, endurance activities or prolonged exertion, made from puffed rice, apple purée and enriched with vitamin C.
Thanks to its crunchy texture and fruity taste of apple and berries, it offers a practical and enjoyable alternative to traditional energy bars, ideal for consumption before or during physical activity. The formulation is based on puffed rice and a blend of carbohydrates derived from glucose and fructose, naturally present in the syrups and fruit used (apple, strawberry, berries). This combination makes the bar a source of rapidly available energy, suitable for sustaining the pace of physical exercise and supporting the most demanding performances.
The inclusion of apple pulp, strawberry, mixed berry and cranberry preparations, along with honey and dried fruit, gives the bar a natural flavour and a balanced texture, making it easy to eat even whilst on the go.
Puffed rice, meanwhile, contributes to the product’s lightness and digestibility. The formula is rounded off with the addition of vitamin C, which contributes to the normal function of the immune system and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, making the bar not only a source of energy but also a functional aid during periods of intense training.
Thanks to the use of carbohydrates with different rates of intestinal absorption (glucose and fructose, obtained through the hydrolysis of the carbohydrates present in the bar), Carbo BAR 2:1 Crispy helps to sustain performance, delay the onset of fatigue and support the maintenance of energy reserves during prolonged training sessions and competitions. This carbohydrate blend is also optimised to maximise intestinal absorption and reduce the risk of gastrointestinal discomfort1,2,3,4. Glucose is absorbed in the intestine via SGLT1 transporters, which, however, become saturated quite quickly, whilst fructose is absorbed by a different transporter, GLUT5, which does not compete with glucose and represents an ‘alternative route’ for carbohydrates to enter the cell.
Benefits of the 2:1 ratio of glucose to fructose
-
Optimal absorption: this carbohydrate ratio allows for the absorption of more carbohydrates (up to 90g/hour) compared to formulations containing a single type of sugar (e.g. a maximum of around 60g/hour for glucose alone), reducing the risk of digestive problems and consequently improving gastrointestinal tolerance.
-
Reduced intestinal build-up and utilisation of different transporters.
-
Ideal for endurance sports, long-duration exertion and demanding or prolonged performance.
-
The most thoroughly researched ratio: sufficient glucose to rapidly fuel the muscles, but also sufficient fructose to increase total carbohydrate absorption without overloading the gut.
The 2:1 combination therefore allows you to exceed the absorption limit of a single carbohydrate, optimising energy supply during prolonged exercise.
Each bar provides a significant amount of carbohydrates (around 32g), making it particularly suitable for endurance sports, prolonged training sessions, trekking and outdoor activities, where it is important to maintain a constant and easily manageable energy supply.
The addition of vitamin C makes the bar not only a source of energy, but also a functional aid during physical activity. Vitamin C helps reduce tiredness and fatigue and supports normal immune system function, aspects that are particularly important for athletes engaged in intense or prolonged exertion.
During physical exercise, especially under conditions of metabolic stress, the need for micronutrients increases: vitamin C also plays a role in energy metabolism and protects cells from oxidative stress, which can increase during training and competitions5,6,7,8. Vitamin C therefore completes the formulation of Carbo BAR 2:1 crispy version, offering targeted nutritional support in a practical and easily consumable format before or during physical activity.

Our advice
Take 1 bar before, after or during physical activity, depending on the intensity and duration of the exercise. The dosage may vary depending on individual needs and workload. It is particularly suitable for athletes and endurance sportspeople, for performances and activities lasting > 60 minutes (in this case, consumption is recommended after the first 60 minutes) and for high-intensity activities with high energy expenditure.
Frequently asked questions
Can Carbo BAR 2:1 crispy version cause gastrointestinal discomfort? The bar is formulated to promote good tolerability, but the response is subjective. The combination of glucose and fructose, if well-balanced, is generally better tolerated than high doses of a single carbohydrate. However, it is advisable to test the product during training before using it in competition.
In which sports and situations is it most suitable? Carbo BAR 2:1 crispy version is particularly suitable for endurance or long-duration activities (over 60 minutes), such as hiking, running, cycling, triathlon and team sports. It is useful before or during exercise when energy requirements increase and carbohydrate reserves may be depleted.
Why choose it?
Why choose it?
Why choose Carbo BAR 2:1 (crispy version): - Sustained and immediate energy; - Supports muscle recovery (the carbohydrates present help restore normal muscle function after intense or prolonged physical exercise*); - The combination of glucose and fructose promotes greater carbohydrate absorption during exercise, compared to a single source of carbohydrates; - Suitable for long-duration endurance sports, such as cycling, running, triathlon, team sports and trekking; - Designed to provide optimal support during intense and prolonged exertion; - 2:1 carbohydrate ratio (glucose : fructose); - With added vitamin C to support energy metabolism; - Convenient and easy to take; - Gluten-free and lactose-free; - Targeted nutritional support before and during physical activity; *The beneficial effect is obtained by consuming carbohydrates from all sources totalling 4 g per kg of body weight, with intake in doses to be started within the first 4 hours following intense and prolonged physical exercise and to be completed within 6 hours of such exercise. Suitable for adult athletes who have undertaken intense and prolonged physical exercise.
